In Defense of the Selfie and why you'll get a selfie stick
However I do want to defend the stick and my reasoning goes like this.
Back in Van Eyck's day when the wealthy and privileged did something that thought grand they commissioned a selfie in their day -- A portrait
This was considered a new form of expression of realism and acute observation with "Full-length portraits were reserved for depictions of the highest echelon of society, and were associated with princely displays of power" Kemperdick (2006), 28 Wikipedia Quoting from Wikipedia again, "Throughout history, it has been common for rulers and governments to commission public art as a means of demonstrating power and wealth, or even for specific propaganda purposes". So it's not just me saying this.....
It's really not a surprise that it might be frowned upon from some because it's an age old prodigious that allowed the wealthy to display their might and power with the image. And, now is this notion only proved antiquated it's turned on it's head with the power of Social Media and putting the SelfieStick to use will come in many forms
Selfies, Security, Promotion, Marketing, Planning, Parties, tourist photo enhancement. Because this is happening people the selfiestick is coming like a hurricane and I for one find it quite fun and funny at the same time. There is a reason why Obama is smiling like a boss in his SelfieStick debut and me too.
