Come to think of it my first blog was at Internet 95

Yep way back in 1995 I was at a conference called Internet 95 and this was the conference where SUN released JAVA.  Now, Talk about being in a fishbowl, the fact that everyone there was better connected then Kevin Bacon by virtue of the smallness of the Internetwork community at the time.  Consider that at the end of 1995 there where only 50,000 domain names registered.

There was also this wild service called Site of the Day and if your's  made it your site would gets the world's attention for at least a day and as long as you could string out some press or PR.

There I was at Internet 95 and I decided that it was so important that everyone not there get the news from the conference that I started a subdirectory on our corporate website Altavoz.com and then posted updates during the day  via a telnet session. Back then we had to go through quite a bit to get this done.  Starting with getting online.  From there going to your shell account and then using telnet to get over to the server that hosed your website.  Then I would launch an online editors called Pico open the file and edit it and hope you didn't mess~up up one character or space. This could  you could wreak the page and sometime a whole directory with the wrong command.

I would love to find a screen shot or video from back then and stick it up here..  BTW The Internet archive only charts my first site starting back starting  in 1996 and considering we launched on  05-04-1995 I not sure what they think we did for a whole year.  Ahhhh. That is another story. So back to Internet 95 Adam Currey was the big conference speaker as he has left MTV for the Internet. We also  had this wild final night concert that was broadcast on the MBone and some crazy band called FISH was there playin like a band of DEAD monkeys and sad but true this  was so long ago on the Internetwork that it is not available online.

Oh yea I still have the Internet 95 Tshirt and I bet it was one of the 1st Internet Conference  pieces of CHUM.
